A year-round outdoor room
While only being a small space, the client’s brief was to build a new garden to incorporate an outdoor (smoking) room that could be used all-year round. The size of the space was a challenge so it was divided up with strong lines to give a greater feeling of width and space.
A new composite deck was built as a base for the new garden room. Behind is a small hidden utility area with storage. Raised beds were created, faced with porcelain panels to match a new blue-grey granite terrace. To help disguise the dominance of the room, three Acers were included, two to the main planting bed and one through the deck.
The garden room was fully insulated and boarded and incorporates heating and lighting to make it useable all-year round. The planting reflects the largely shaded nature of the garden; lighting has been incorporated under the coping to the walls of the raised bed, the deck fascia and to highlight the trees and stepping stones.
We also undertook a make-over of the small front garden to improve the kerb appeal.
