A coastal themed garden

This client had inherited a drab yard of old paving and concrete and wanted something with a coastal feel, without being a pastiche.

Two raised decks were created, connected by a boardwalk with rope balustrade. Surrounding the deck, shingle areas were created with feature reclaimed sea defences and related planning. The main walkway through the garden was built from timbers that would give the feel of a meandering boardwalk. Further sea defences were used as features in the planting beds, which incorporated a mix of grasses and perennials. Small trees were added to give some height to the space.
