Creating An Accessible Garden

Following a fall, this older client hadn’t been able to access her garden for 12 months. Steps, uneven surfaces and a rotting deck made the space inaccessible to her.

The existing terrace was relaid with blue-grey granite and adjacent steps replaced with a gentle slope and a stainless steel handrail. The old concrete path was widened and relaid with granite and drains were recessed. A second terrace replaced the deck and the existing pergola was refurbished and updated with feature screens. A new gravel area was laid to accommodate a smaller shed, water butt and potting area. Raised beds for easy access were created, fresh planting installed and the lawn repaired and extended in places.
